BAPTISM

BAPTISMS are one of our favorite things to celebrate at Venture! Baptism is the outward expression of your inward transformation. It’s your public YES to Jesus! Baptism is a big step in the life of a follower of Jesus. You can sign up toward the bottom of the page, but first read what baptism is about and let us know if you have any questions.

What is Baptism?

Baptism is an outward confession of an inward decision.
Baptism is a command. Everyone who confesses Christ should be baptized.
Baptism comes from the word “baptize” which means to immerse.

What is the meaning of Baptism?

Baptism illustrates Christ’s burial and resurrection (“For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ.” Colossians 2:12) It illustrates my new life as a Christian (“When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17).

It illustrates our existing faith. Baptism doesn’t make you a believer – Baptism does not “save” you—only your faith in Christ does that (For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith…it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9).

Can Children be Baptized?

At Venture, we can’t wait until our children are old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of baptism before we baptize them.

If you were baptized as a child, it was the intent of your parents that you would one day be a follower of Christ. Your baptism as an adult can be viewed as the fulfillment of your parents’ wishes. It in no way denies the Baptism you received as a child. FOR THE CHILDREN’S BAPTISM GUIDE, CLICK HERE.

Who Should be Baptized?

Every person who has believed in Christ. If you were baptized when younger, but walked away from God for a season of your life, you are welcome to be baptized again to display your new commitment ("Those who believe and accepted His message were baptized…” Acts 2:41)
